KATHMANDU: Nepal’s Department of Postal Services has released a commemorative postage stamp in honour of late industrialist and social worker Om Prakash Goyal, recognising his longstanding contributions to society.
The Rs 10 denomination stamp was unveiled at a ceremony organised on Wednesday by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology through the Department of Postal Services in collaboration with the Goyal Foundation. Minister for Communications and Information Technology Jagdish Kharel formally released the stamp, featuring a portrait of the late Goyal.
Speaking at the event, Minister Kharel paid tribute to Goyal’s lifelong dedication to social service, saying that although he is no longer physically present, his work has rendered him “immortal.” He emphasised that individuals who devote their lives to the welfare of others leave a lasting legacy, adding that Goyal’s contributions merited his commemoration on a national postage stamp.

The programme was presided over by Manmaya Bhattarai Pangeni, Director General of the Department of Postal Services, who said the stamp was issued as a gesture of appreciation for Goyal’s significant role in social development.
Also addressing the gathering, Kailash Chandra Goyal, chair of the Goyal Foundation and son of the late Om Prakash Goyal, reflected on his father’s commitment to public service. He said the Goyal Group continues to move forward guided by the vision, values and principles of its founder. He recalled that the late Goyal was actively involved in initiatives related to drinking water, health and education.
Kailash Chandra Goyal further noted that his father had supported the construction of school buildings, cow shelters, monasteries, temples and other infrastructure for social welfare. Expressing gratitude, he said the Goyal family would remain indebted to the government and the Department of Postal Services for honouring his father’s lifetime of service and preserving his legacy through the commemorative stamp.
